Manilyn's Success Story

This amazing woman... It's hard to even know what to say about her because she's had such a crazy transformation over the last two years... and the physical transformation is the least of it!! I have seen her gain so much confidence as this business has brought out the best in her. It's incredible to think that she might still be keeping her light hidden from the world if she had never taken a chance on giving this business a try! I think it was fate that we are part of the same team because she's become such a dear friend and inspiration to me. I can't say enough how lucky her clients are to have her, and I'm excited for you to learn more about her in this Q&A!

By way of background, Manilyn competed earlier this year in the Beachbody Classic, which is our company's figure competition that takes place at Coach Summit each summer. She placed in the top 10 her first time ever competing, which is pretty remarkable!

I know the average person can't really relate to entering a figure competition so I wanted to ask Manilyn to share more about her experience and her reasons for doing this. I also saw her grow so much as a result of this experience and I want to help people understand that it's about so much more than just getting super lean and showing off your muscles! I hope you enjoy reading her thoughts and impressions.

What Beachbody programs have you done so far? Which ones have been the most transformative for you and why?

In the last two years of my journey, I have done 22 Minute Hard Corps, Hammer & Chisel, Body Beast, Core de Force, Shaun Week, Shift Shop, 80 Day Obsession, and LIIFT4. My favorite one is Body Beast because that is the program that really sculpted my body. All the programs are very effective and gave me awesome results, but I love Body Beast because I like the challenge and weightlifting the most.

How has your life changed because of coaching?

My life changed from zero to 100 because of coaching—not because I’m making so much money, but because of my inner and outer transformation. I used to be that girl who was so quiet and shy and barely knew English. This business literally took my confidence from zero to 10. I can’t even believe who I’ve become. I became more mature in every single area of my life. It gave me a clear vision of what I want in life and who I want to become. I became an influencer to so many Filipinos in the U.S. to have a healthy lifestyle. I became a clothing model for Zulily, which is a big clothing company in my area, and just now I received the news that I was chosen to model for the Seahawks brand, which is going to be an amazing experience as well. I believe that God used the Beachbody opportunity for me to see what I’m capable of, and to inspire and change people's lives with what I do means the world.

Why did you decide to enter the Beachbody Classic?

I decided to join the Beachbody Classic because I’ve always admired women with an awesome figure, and every time I see someone joining a competition like that, it makes me think I can do it too. It inspires me! I also did it to prove to myself that I can do hard things and to show people how effective our workouts and supplements are even without a gym membership.

How hard was the preparation? Did you ever think about quitting?

It was super hard, and yes I thought about quitting, but I’m that person who pushes harder when things get hard, and when I start something I need to finish it or it’s going to bother me all my life!

How did it feel to compete and make the top 10?

It felt amazing and priceless to belong in the top 10 and to be on the stage for the first time. I couldn’t believe it! I met the Body Beast trainer on the stage, and in the process I made so many friends that became like family to me. It was a dream come true, and I thank God every day for giving me the opportunity to be there.

What did the experience of competing in the Beachbody Classic teach you? How did it change you?

It taught me so much, especially the word discipline! I learned how to love healthy food in the process, and it really shaped my mind that everyone should eat healthy and learn discipline so fewer people get cancer and other diseases, even though I understand that it’s super hard because we are in a world full of yummy foods that are very tempting. But it really changed my relationship w food. I felt that my body was sooo clean and not bloated or anything. That feeling of being FIT was like a medal that no one can buy.

What makes you want to compete in additional figure competitions? I think some people think it's just all about attaining a certain look, but I don't think it's that superficial for you... right? What is it about for you?

I decided to compete in an NPC bikini competition for the first time because I love this kind of sport. I am super passionate about it and I feel like I need a big goal like this to get that fire back inside me. It's a very good excuse to stay fit and healthy and be a good example to my daughters as well. I want to be a legend to my family, to my grandchildren one day, and I want to inspire people who came from nothing like me to dream big, that anything is possible if they just believe in themselves. I still have a long way to go but I know in my heart I will get there no matter how hard the road will be.

What would you say to someone who looks at your transformation or your current body and thinks 'I could never do that"?

The only thing I can say is "Yes you can!" If you just believe in yourself and you are willing to do whatever it takes... Yes you can! Anything is achievable to those who are willing to work hard.
