Exciting Updates to Beachbody on Demand!

Since Beachbody on Demand launched two years ago, the company has gradually been adding on new features and benefits, so I figured it was time for a brand new post instead of just updating the old one.

In the fall of 2016, Beachbody introduced the DIGITAL UNLOCK option, which allows "unlocking" access to workout programs by paying a fee. Program prices range from $10 up to $75; you can find a full price list here.

To get access to these programs, you need to have a basic membership to Beachbody on Demand. Anyone can start with a 30 day free trial (**edit: as of June 2017, the free trial was shortened to 14 days**); if they like the service, they can then continue their access for a three-month, six-month, or twelve-month membership (prices range from $40 to $100).

As always, each program (whether it's premium content or part of the basic membership) includes multiple workout videos plus a nutrition plan and additional resources. But within the last year, Beachbody has taken many of the programs that used to be premium content and added them in to the basic membership instead. Here is the current list:

PREMIUM CONTENT

INCLUDED IN BASIC MEMBERSHIP

That's just an insane amount of content, right?? The length of those programs ranges from three weeks to three months. Even if no more new content were added, I'm pretty sure this would be enough workouts to last us for the rest of our lives.

And that's not all... the basic membership also includes "extra" workouts that are not part of any particular program (Beachbody Yoga Studio, plus "bonus" workouts from celebrity trainers including Autumn Calabrese, Sagi Kalev, Tony Horton, Joel Freeman, and Jericho McMatthews).

What's more, Beachbody on Demand includes several exclusive shows that are for watching, rather than exercising. "The Making of the Beast" tells the life story of celebrity trainer Sagi Kalev. "The 20s" is a reality show documenting the process of choosing Beachbody's next celebrity trainer. And the "Fixate" cooking show—hosted by 21 Day Fix creator Autumn Calabrese and her brother, Bobby, a professional chef—has dozens of clean eating recipes that are a little bit fancy, yet still use simple and quick techniques, and fit within the container-based eating plans that go along with most Beachbody workout programs.

Beachbody on Demand can be used with a variety of devices... Not just any computer with an internet browser, but also tablets and cell phones, Apple TV, and Roku. If your video gaming console has an internet browser, you should be able to play your workouts using it (it works on our Xbox using the Internet Explorer app). You can stream from your computer to TV using a Chromecast, or from your Amazon Fire to your TV using a Firestick. Read more about device compatibility with Beachbody on Demand.

Lastly, iOS users get some additional benefits with new features that are in beta testing. iPhone and iPad have a special Beachbody on Demand app that syncs with the Apple Watch and has any other special features... the coolest of which, in my opinion, is that you can download up to 7 workouts to play later (or episodes of programs to watch later). These videos will be available even when your device is offline. This feature has come in super handy when we've been traveling in places where our phones didn't have service and the wifi was not reliable! I could download a workout at a restaurant or coffee shop with free wifi, then take it back to my room and do the workout. The small screen made it a big challenging, but I persevered! New programs will be added to Beachbody on Demand as they continue to be released in the upcoming months. Right now there is a special "all access challenge pack" that includes one year's access, not only to the Beachbody on Demand basic membership, but to ALL the premium content, as well as three new programs that will be released later this year that have not even been announced yet! The price for this package is $199 USD / $231 CAD and it also includes one month's supply of Shakeology, as well as the Portion Fix nutrition guide and containers... so it is the full solution to get you off to a great start in 2017 for nutrition as well as fitness!
