Lisa is one of my loyal customers and a rock star in all of my groups. Beachbody programs have helped make healthy eating and exercise a lifestyle for her. Her story really demonstrates how it’s not the products but the support system that make the Beachbody model so powerful. I’ll let her tell you the rest in her own words…
Q: How did you get started with Beachbody?
A: I have been drinking Shakeology for about four years. I am not a big fan of breakfasts (unless it is Sunday brunch :)) so I liked the option to have Shakeology in the morning and feel good throughout the day. Now it has become a habit! My husband drinks it as well, and even my son will have a shake with me every once in a while.
Q: One of the best things about Beachbody workouts is that there truly is something for everyone. I know that over the years you have tried several different programs. Which ones have you tried and what did you think of them?
A: I started the Beachbody workouts right around the same time I started Shakeology. I started with P90X. My husband and I did it together and I got into the best shape of my life. I dropped 8 lbs and two dress sizes.
From there, I did Insanity, which wasn't my favorite to be honest. It was tough and I found I enjoy my workouts more if weights are involved. I then got T25 and my husband really liked that one but I didn't care for it—but I did appreciate the shorter workouts (just 25 minutes a day).
The one challenge I had with Insanity or P90X was the time commitment. Then I got P90X3… Love! One of my favorites. The length of the workouts (30 minutes) was perfect, and I appreciate the mix of cardio and weights. This was also the time I joined as a coach and got more involved with monthly challenge groups.
I tried PiYo, which I didn't like at first but then it grew on me. I started doing it regularly and I really noticed my flexibility increased and my legs and arms were more toned. I didn't lose weight, but I toned up.
Next was Turbo Fire—and I am surprised to say I really enjoy it! I wasn't sure how I would like it since it is all cardio, but I find the workouts a lot of fun. Plus, after PiYo, Chalene Johnson has become a bit of an idol in how she keeps fit.
Now on to 21 Day Fix! I was very excited to start this program, since it uses a combo of weights and cardio, and the workouts are only 30 minutes long. Also, it incorporates a food program, which is one of my most challenging areas to stick with. I lost 8 lbs in three rounds—I haven’t been at this weight since I was in college!
